Wolves’ Ivan Cavaleiro on target to end Shrewsbury’s brave FA Cup fight

Shrewsbury Town once again proved a handful for Wolves, coming back from a goal down in the first half to take a shock lead before a second Matt Doherty goal and a splendid second-half winner from Ivan Cavaleiro booked the home side a fifth round tie at Bristol City. “It was tough again, we had to come from behind in both games,” Nuno Espírito Santo said. “It was not one of our better performances but it’s job done. I am happy to be in the fifth round.”

The Shrewsbury manager, Sam Ricketts, was unhappy with what he described as a foul when Cavaleiro shoved a defender out of the way en route to goal, although the referee ran it past VAR and allowed it to stand. “I couldn’t ask any more of my players, coming back from that early goal to take the lead,” Ricketts said. “Clearly we missed our best chance at our own ground but I’m still proud to come here and push Wolves hard.”
