A match in Ligue 1 was halted for several minutes on Friday night after Amiens defender Prince Gouano suffered alleged racial abuse at Dijon. A man was arrested after the incident, which led to 25-year-old Gouano asking for play to be stopped in the closing stages of the goalless draw.
The league’s governing body, the Ligue de Football Professionnel, said in a statement: “The LFP condemns the racist insults that led to the temporary interruption of the meeting (between) Dijon FCO and Amiens SC. The LFP supports the player Prince Gouano.
